Who we are?
A small, independent specialty coffeshop, roastery and now coffee capsule manufacturer in Budapest, Hungary. Funded in 2016 by Marton Lonkai (on the right of the picture), the 2017 Hungarian Brewers Champion.
Let’s go back to the year 2020, where the story begins.
Surely we are not the only ones, but the past one and a half years made us face many hardships. It happened in March 2020 when the world has been closed and the idea of “if the guests cannot come to Steamhouse Café, let Steamhouse coffee go to the guests’!” was conceiving in our heads. Soon our webshop was built and our own roasted specialty coffees were made into coffee capsules by a producer independent from us. Thanks to our hard work and loyal Steamhouse coffee consumers, it became a surprisingly huge success that helped us survive the tough times and our team (which now is like a small family) could stay together.
Why did we deploy our very own capsule filling machine?
Throughout these months, we wanted you to have a special experience while drinking our capsules. We wanted you to feel like being in Steamhouse Cafe drinking that perfectly made espresso. The only difference is that you are not in the cafe but your own home. This made us realize that the only way to go is that we take the entire manufacturing process under our control.
From now on, everything is in our professional hands, from green coffee selection through roasting until packaging, making our small business even more unique.
We are very satisfied with what we achieved, we love what we managed to create (and feedbacks show that you do too!), so we happily recommend it to everyone who would like to take the course of home coffee making to another level!
Our capsules are made of 100% recyclable aluminium (which we colllect back). Our current portfolio (refering to the colour of the capsules):
- gold: light roast, El Salvador
- blue: medium roast, Guatemala
- black: dark roast, Costa Rica
- silver: Swiss Water decaf, Peru
Last but not least, don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, there are still many-many surprises coming up!
